When designing an Industrial Refrigeration system, there are very many variables to be taken into consideration. One of those, is efficiency, most particularaly with regard to Power Consumption. It is our experience here in the MENA region, that most companies, in the past, have not worried about the power consumption of their Refrigeration Plant. However, more and more in todays economic climate, and with low Oil prices, Higher Eectricity prices, and in some regions, Tariffs for peak and off peak power consumption where the penalty on peak consumption can be an increase in the unit price of electricity by up to 3 times the cost of the off peak unit of electricity, larger companies with a sense of either corporate or environmental responsibility look to companies like ours to help then achieve the lowest running cost possible for their refrigeration systems.
With Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration systems, we have many many benefits for the client compared to traditional Refrigeration Systems. Typically, the COP (Coefficient Of Performance) for an Ammonia system is much higher than that of other systems. Ammonia as a Refrigerant is extremely efficient, this allows us to use a relatively small amount in our Chillers for a given refrigeration duty. Also, the cost of Ammonia is usually less than 10% the cost of other widely available Refrigerants. The life span of an industrial Refrigeration system, can easilt be 50 years and even more when properly maintained and cared for. Ammonia as a Refrigerant is safe as you can smell it when it leaks and repair it immediately, unlike other refrigerants that have no odour or colour. This means that there is no such thing as "Topping Up" your Refrigeration system.
Ammonia makes the best sense for most Industrial Refrigeration and Chiller package solutions........ An efficiently designed system, will have vey low power consumption and high COP ( the amount of Refrigeration Duty in kW/hr divided by the power consumption in kW/hr )
